Our Commitment

Crfted is committed to making our platform accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We believe everyone deserves equal access to handmade goods and the makers who create them.

Our site is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards. If you experience any accessibility issues, please contact us at hello@crfted.co and we will work to resolve them promptly.

What We’ve Built

We have taken the following steps to make Crfted accessible:

• Semantic HTML with proper heading hierarchy (h1 → h2 → h3) on every page
• ARIA landmarks — header, nav, main, and footer — on every page for screen reader navigation
• Skip-to-main-content link as the first focusable element on every page
• Keyboard navigability throughout — all interactive elements are reachable and operable via keyboard
• Visible focus indicators on all focusable elements using our terracotta brand color
• Sufficient color contrast ratios meeting WCAG 2.1 AA requirements for all text
• Descriptive alt text on all meaningful images; decorative images are marked with empty alt text
• Associated labels for all form inputs using htmlFor and id pairs
• ARIA live regions for dynamic content changes including cart updates, form validation errors, and status messages
• Mobile touch targets of at least 44×44px for all interactive elements
• No auto-playing media or seizure-inducing animations
• No accessibility overlay widgets — all accessibility is built natively into the platform

Standards and Testing

We test against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. Our testing approach includes:

• Automated accessibility checks during development
• Manual keyboard navigation testing across all major user flows
• Screen reader testing using VoiceOver (macOS/iOS) and NVDA (Windows)
• Color contrast verification for all text and interactive elements
• Mobile accessibility testing on iOS and Android devices

Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some user-generated content — such as product images uploaded by makers — may not always include descriptive alt text. We encourage all makers to add descriptive titles to their listings, which we use as image alt text throughout the platform.

We are actively working to improve accessibility across all areas of the platform.
